Robert "Bob" Baker
Mayor Pro Tem
Term Expires: November 2012
Contact Me: Phone: 949 361-8322

I'm entering City Council with an open mind and an eye towards preserving the quality of life in this little town of ours. I’m a graduate of the "Leadership San Clemente" program and am proud to have been a leader in the “Save San Clemente Open Space” movement.

For the last 30 years, I’ve been a Commercial Airline Pilot and Captain with American Airlines. I have flown over 15,000 hours and enjoyed the challenge and the reward of helping others. I graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1970 and served in the US Navy as a Naval Aviator for seven years.

My wife, Pam and I are 20-year residents of San Clemente. Our children graduated from San Clemente High School. Over the years we’ve been active in a variety of organizations including: Indian Guides, Boys & Girls Club, Wrestling and Tennis. I am a firm believer in shopping with local merchants whenever possible. As residents, this financial support helps maintain a vibrant and local flavor in our community.

My hobbies are golf, bodyboarding and surfing (novice division).

Fun fact about me: I flew the Los Angeles Lakers charter airplane.

Biography: Click for Biographic Detail

G. Wayne Eggleston has resided in San Clemente for 15 years. Wayne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Mt. Union College in Ohio and is also a Certified Property Manager. In 1998 Wayne Eggleston won a seat on the City Council and led the City Council to vote for a Casa Romantica Cultural/Arts Center when a generous donation was presented to the City by a benefactor.

Over the next several years, Eggleston continued to support the heritage treasure of Ole Hanson’s vision by promoting Spanish Colonial Architecture and the importance of Avenida Del Mar as the premier shopping district in San Clemente.

Eggleston was re-elected to the City Council in 2002.

In 2003, as Executive Director of The Heritage, Eggleston began an effort to construct a Marine Monument in San Clemente dedicated to all Marines, past, present and future. He began a fund raising effort, chose an artist/sculptor, and searched for a location. Along with various community groups and military officers at Camp Pendleton, a location on City property at the Pier Bowl was chosen. Request for the location was made to the City Council and granted for the Alameda site, and the location for the Marine Monument is known as Park Semper Fi. The Marine Monument was dedicated on November 12, 2005.

Eggleston was chosen “Outstanding Citizen of the Year 2005” by the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce.
